Photography is an expressive art form, that can create images that delve deeper into what is around us and help us perceive the world around us with acuter senses. A camera can seem like a modernish device that records literally what is seen, but photographers do not just explore moments in an instant. Throughout its history, cameras may capture images far faster than we can perceive or so slowly we enter a more ghostly world. We might not just take one photo at one time, and present it, but take many and layer them together to create impressions with results that may be more abstract and further removed than a literal moment.

Moments captured well are a skill and artform in their own right and is much of what photography comprises today. This set of images are of a Christmas woodland area at night with illuminations. Photos taken of a scene often from slightly different positions, are blended to create an impression, that can become somewhat removed from the scene perceived. In the creation process, a result can emerge that might not be what is predicted, but can be surprising, resulting in photo impressionism.
